Fort Lauderdale Plastic Surgeon Offers Unique Approach to Mommy Makeovers

Dr. Robert Rothfield, M.D. of Weston Plastic Surgery recently revealed his unique approach to mommy makeover procedures in two blog posts, “Mommy Makeover: Consultation to Recovery” and “What Do Cosmetic Surgery and Aviation Have in Common?”

“The changes that occur in all women during pregnancy – for which mommy makeovers are designed to correct – do not typically revert over time,” Rothfield explained in his blog post, “Mommy Makeover: Consultation to Recovery.”

The blog post also highlights Rothfield’s approach to mommy makeover procedures, management of patient expectations and recommendations for timing when a surgery should be performed.

Rothfield also comments that a mommy makeover is a personalized assortment of cosmetic procedures intended “to reestablish the pre-pregnancy shape of the patient’s body and breasts.” At his Fort Lauderdale practice Weston Plastic Surgery, a mommy makeover can include such procedures as tummy tucks, breast augmentation, breast lifts, liposuction and laser skin rejuvenation.

The Fort Lauderdale plastic surgeon claims in his blog post, “What Do Cosmetic Surgery and Aviation Have in Common?,” that he prefers to perform mommy makeover procedures all during the same surgical session.

“In regard to surgery, if a patient undergoing breast surgery knows they will also need and/or want a tummy tuck in the near future, it is often safer to perform the two surgeries at the same time,” Rothfield said in the blog post. “This way, there is only one anesthetic and one recovery period as opposed to two separate procedures that require two anesthetics and two recovery periods.”

Rothfield also outlined a basic recovery timetable for mommy makeover patients in his post, “Mommy Makeover: Consultation to Recovery.”

“Changes from pregnancy do not resolve with diet or exercise, and it is for this reason mommy makeovers can be an excellent option for mothers seeking to restore their pre-pregnancy figures,” Rothfield noted in the post.

After graduating from Haverford College, Rothfield earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School Medicine. Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otalyngology, he is also the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Pembroke Pines, Florida’s Memorial West Hospital and a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
